The nearly three-minute long video is titled Shred the Love, the Director’s cut. He did this as an statement of his OWN personal view and he was in all his right to do so. A complete shredding of the same design is then shown.

For Banksy some of his art in his will is free some are not, it is him who decides it not anyone else’s! that is why he creates street art for everyone to see and enjoy and other to sell or to support different projects or causes. Some fans did rush to the artist’s rescue, however, saying on Instagram: “Every one is free to do what they want with the product they produce, in this case art. But hey, you have the right to disagree.” However, if someone lost their job because of it or is a victim of ridicule in the action industry (which is probably the case), then yes, it is upsetting.”Ī third commented: “Not hating mate, just think it’s unfair with the people who make a living working with art who got screwed over because of one of Banksy’s ego trips. Entitled Shred the Love the Directors half cut, the video depicts the creation and construction of the very frame that shredded the famous work. 'In rehearsals it worked every time,' the video says. The video shows that, originally, his team had imaged that the shredder would destroy the painting in its entirety so that it fell to the floor in pieces. One fan wrote: “Why were so many people pre filming the auction then? Sorry but i genuinely wanted to know,” while another commented: “To whom did Banksy donate this piece to? Also, I think the fact that the shredded piece now allegedly is worth more has backfired for Banksy and hopefully no one from the auction got fired. However, in a video titled 'Shred the Love' posted to Banksys YouTube channel, the artist claimed that the stunt hadnt quite gone to plan. However, despite the unknown artists claims that no-one else was in on the prank, many fans are lashing out at him on social media trying to debunk his latest comments. Banksy has released a video showing how he secretly built a shredder into one of his paintings that self-destructed after it was sold for more than £1m.
